In Real Life:

Tennessee Williams only mentions one high school in The Glass Menagerie – Soldan High School – a school Williams attended in ninth grade. However, when his family moved to the apartment on Enright Street he transferred to and then graduated from University City High School. I don’t know how it happened – but I managed to trip right past University City High School during my visit to St. Louis. I entered the high school into my iPhone as University High – instead of University CITY High and it took me to the wrong place. It was almost last on my list of stops and I didn’t have time to recover – especially since I had to jam in a stop at White Castle for some burgers before I left town. So – I called the high school after I got home and they told me that yes – Tennessee Williams went there. And yes – there is something to see – he’s featured on the Wall of Fame. And yes – you can see it any day school is in session.  Now – since I wasn’t going to fly all the way back to St. Louis to see the wall – I asked for some pictures. The school sent me these – and even though I didn’t make it there – I suggest it as a stop. It’s nice that the school is so proud of their graduate.
