“The first church services were held in a multi denominational worship house that had been conceived as a temporary expedient by a delegation of fourteen Las Vegas pastors who met with (Jean) Page in March 1931 to look over church blueprints.” Page 259
In Real Life:
It may have started out the way Michael Hilzik says it went down in Colossus – where everyone in Boulder City shared one church. But it wasn’t long before things changed. The protestants, according to the website of Grace Community church – seemed to ban together in 1932 to build their own church – a blend of Baptist, Presbyterian and Methodist. The new congregation met at first in the Six Companies mess hall but by 1933 the church was built. I went to see it and I don’t know what it is about Boulder City – but they lock their churches. I tried to poke my head into this one and was surprised it wasn’t open – I mean even New York City keeps their churches open. So you might want to check the hours if you want to walk around inside.
